Lazy Quarantine days

The hot days on board pass by quickly with our daily routine. Sunday is consumed by reading the papers, and contacting the kids. Poor Luke couldn’t talk for long as he had a work call coming through (on a Sunday night!), he is working so hard, they have so much work, he is hopeful it will calm down soon. Phoebs sent us a pic of her new matching tattoo with her man, we swallowed hard, it looked pretty discreet and I said to Rowan things must be serious! We finally managed to speak to her, we had a good chat about the design, an ancient Hawaiian symbol of a turtle. I asked how painful it was because its quite a sensitive part of the ankle. She suddenly burst out laughing, it was just transfers! What a laugh, we did well, poor Daniel’s mother and sister were not at all impressed by it, sending heartfelt messages of disapproval! What a relief for them when they were let in on the prank. The lucky things have had a wonderful time going around the Hawaiian islands, staying the whole time is Airbnbs which have been a huge success. They had just been on a night boat trip to watch Manta rays feeding. The rays are 12 foot wide and were coming within a foot of them. Such an incredible experience. Hannah is out in the bush so no real comms, we will speak to her on Thursday when she is back in the office. The good news is that her DHL parcel which we sent for her birthday in November has finally been delivered! She finally gets both birthday and Christmas presents, a chocolate advent calendar and some Christmas crackers!

Matching transfers!

I’m going to take a few days break from writing the blog, as there really isn’t anything to report on. We get our next PCR test on Wednesday and should get the result within 48 hours and then should be free to go. So Friday by the latest. There are only a few anchorages in Dominica and they seem to be closed during Covid. We have decided to pamper ourselves by having a few days on land, at an all inclusive little hotel including daily excursions, yoga and half hour spa treatments. Sounds and looks wonderful. Rowan has organised us a guide for the last day to do a 9 hour hike up to a volcano that has a bubbling fresh water crater lake. Hope it doesn’t undo all the good from our pampering! This small island has 9 active volcanoes and with the one in St Vincent blowing its top, I hope we don’t encourage any more eruptions.
