A long day’s sail

We swapped shifts at 1am and I was very pleased as we were just approaching the channel between Guadeloupe and Dominica where the wind howls through. Rowan says the winds were peaking at 30 knots, I was out for the count in bed blissfully unaware! We stayed away from the islands hoping to catch a bit more wind to speed up our journey. We finally passed Dominica and spotted Martinique in the far distance.

A little taster of our bouncy ride!

It seemed an eternity to get to the northern tip of Martinique and then we slowly made our way down the island again keeping away from the land. With most of the packing done and tired all we wanted was to get to our destination, Anse St Anne, just outside of Le Marin harbour where we are booked into the marina with our broker.

We finally spotted Diamond Rock which we have become so familiar with as we have passed it so many times. But we had forgotten that it was still about a 2 hour sail, even with the motors on as the wind had died. We finally anchored at 7pm, much later than we had thought, exhausted and ready for bed!
