Oooh….Heaven is a place on earth!!

We have had a wonderful week at the Galley Bay resort, Luke arrived on Monday and Phoebs on Friday making it all the merrier. The resort owns the whole beach and the surrounding area has not been developed, the bay is surrounded with lush hills making it very tranquil. The angle of the bay meant the beach has crashing waves, which was a great background noise for sleeping with just our mosquito net doors, in our room just a couple of meters from the beach. The gardens were beautifully landscaped with loads of lush vegetation making the accommodation very discreet. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful, they even let Phoebs stay for free because Luke had arrived a day late, which was incredibly kind as it is was all inclusive. The resort was almost half full and certainly filled up towards the end which must be a relief for them.

We had a couple of adventures out. A very sweaty bike ride to the next bay which had an old fort we climbed up to, and a kayak out to a wreck from 1905. Otherwise we had a very relaxing time, swimming in the warm gorgeous turquoise water, sundowners with endless noisy games of Farkle dice and Shithead cards.

Cheeky little bird was addicted to our sugar sachets on the tea tray, at every opportunity he would fly into our room and then out with a sachet in his mouth, almost half his size! He would then peck the paper until he got to the sugar, a little worried as we found papers from the artificial sugars, he wasn’t very discerning.

Phoebe arrived laden down with a heavy water pump in her suitcase! Rowan and I had a very sweaty day back at PolePole getting the boat ready. Rowan has become a DIY wizard and managed to squeeze himself under the bed into the hull and installed the new pump. Great whooping of joy as it all worked successfully! We haven’t got everything sorted on the boat but with the water maker working we are all set to circumnavigate the island with Luke who departs on the 28th. Phoebe is joining us on further adventures until the end of January or maybe even longer with new lockdown restrictions.

Sunday morning after stuffing ourselves at our last breakfast at the resort we headed to the biggest supermarket on the island and did a mega shop to last us for a week. All packed we had a smooth departure on PolePole and decided to head back to Nonsuch Bay. Sadly it was a bash straight into the wind, with big waves, so not very comfortable, but luckily all was wonderfully calm in the Bay. A few more Gin Palaces have arrived in the bay and Rowan spotted a couple of very expensive Cats (Gunboats apparently). We headed back to our spot on the edge of the reef with just the roar of kite surfers for company.

Such fun to have two of our kids on board, just missing our youngest who is still out in the bush in Botswana filming wildlife.
