Off to Morne Rouge

Never thought I would be so grateful to see clouds……and then it chucked down!

It was blissful relief from the heat, which I think has rather got to us as we are so busy sorting things out. We have added a bilge pump malfunction to our list of repairs!

Prickly bay has a lot of boats in it and therefore not the best swimming area. So we headed around the headland, passed the airport to Morne Rouge. Half way between our quarantine hotel and the Cabanas where we stayed last time. It is a gorgeous bit of coastline with stunning beaches. A little tricky getting the anchor to hold as there is only a couple of inches of sand over coral, but after a few attempts we got hooked! We finally inflated our kayak and did a great paddle around our bay with a lovely walk along the beach half way. The beaches have gorgeous leafy trees growing on them providing so much great shade. There are 3 other boats moored here, all monohulls and they seem to live like moles to keep out of the sun. We met the one couple on the beach who have a very fair toddler on board, little Iain is obviously feeling a little restricted on board. The mother is Brazilian and they have sailed all the way up from there, her partner is a ship’s pilot from America. He pilots for 3 months a year to fund the rest of the time on their boat. So amazingly brave.

Peace at last, with very welcome ice cold sundowners, a gin for me and Rowan is taking to the local island life and enjoying his rum enormously! We watched a gorgeous sun go down and a huge big full moon come up. To our amazement we found that the cliff we were moored close to, came alive with Christmas lights and music…. we reckon it must be St George’s equivalent of Oxford street Christmas lights.

Grenada’s Christmas lights, Full moon and bubbling clouds!
