Thursday 2 November – motoring all day

The night shifts went well, no squalls on my shift, so very easy. The crew are all in good shape and not a lot to do as we had the engines on all day. We had some nice sunny patches and then rain. I spotted a big black fin sticking out the water, that followed us for a while, which was either a large shark or maybe an Orca. A couple of hours later we saw loads of little dolphins, they did not come near the boat and were not surfing in our bow wave.

Otherwise we have clocked up some stats – we have officially sailed half way around the world now! We have under 200 miles to get to NZ and hope to be there by tomorrow evening. Water temp is down to 18.5 degrees, and we have worn jumpers all day long and my sheepskin slippers haven’t left my feet all day!
