Tuesday 25 June – Our crew depart

I must have slept for 10 hours, and woke up in the exact same position I went to sleep in. I feel thoroughly restored, everyone else had a pretty good sleep, but not quite it my league! Phil and CJ had packed up, we had a last breakfast on board and they departed. Phil was adamant to go and stay on land and CJ made his way to the main island, by catching a bus across the island and then somehow getting across to the main island for his flight back to NZ tomorrow. Phil is spending a few days in Fiji, he is a keen diver. We have so enjoyed their company, they were great crew, such different characters, both with a great sense of humour. So amazing they both suffer from Dupuytren’s, the same hand contracture that the actor Bill Nighy suffers from. Phil has had his hands operated on and can straighten all but one finger fully. It certainly doesn’t seem to hold either of them back.

Phil sent this great photo from where he is staying looking back at the marina which is in the middle of the little island.

It felt very quiet afterwards. I had a monster amount of laundry to do, all our bedding, plus all our winter woolies and clothes, that need to be washed and packed away. It was pretty windy and I was slightly worried that my sheets might blow away, but all survived.

Washing out

Otherwise a day of catching up. Yesterday when I woke up to do my shift at 3am I had loads of missed calls and a message from Phoebe’s day old new tenant at her London house to say she had locked herself out and couldn’t get hold of Phoebe. Not surprising as Phoebe was flying to Las Vegas to meet Dani for a week’s holiday campervanning around the Grand Canyon. Glad to catch up today and hear they have been in touch with her tenant and are having a great visit to the Grand Canyon. Luke and Milly head to Glastonbury this week end.

We went into the little town for supper, to a Korean restaurant called Grace’s kitchen, we had a delicious dumpling soup, the rest of the food was not particularly Korean, but beautifully run by some lovely ladies. Only mistake was they sold no alcohol, it would have gone nicely with a cold beer or glass of wine! We landed up having a very strong Ginger and Lime juice that was delicious. We were absolute stuffed by the end. Such fun catching the attention of the marina ferry boat to get home, we flashed our torch at him and he spotted it pretty quickly, so cheerful and efficient. It is pitch dark by 6:15pm which is taking a bit of getting used to. The temperature is balmy in the evening, we are sleeping with our fans on in our cabin, two wall mounted fans, we each have one directed on us.
