Saturday 16 August – rain all day

We woke up to pouring rain, and terrible visibility, thick cloud over the islands where we were planning to do our wiggly passage. We decided that there was no way we could navigate the passage in anything but sunshine, so by mid morning we abandoned the plan. With the the thunderous weather hanging over us we decided we need to get out of this zone. After consulting Profasea we’ve agreed to head to Noro to check out of the Solomons and get out of this band of weather.

It was a slow day on the boat, at least it was overcast all day so much cooler than the day before. We will leave tomorrow morning and take two day hops to get to Noro. Not much wind tomorrow but hopefully Monday will be better. Lella is off to join Alma Feroz further up Marovo lagoon tomorrow as they are both going south of PNG and Profasea and ourselves are going north.

I’m in the process of transferring my blog to a new site, as the current site Wix is expensive and doesn’t allow me to create books from the blogs anymore. So if you don’t get blogs for a while, don’t be too surprised. ChapGPT helped me find a freelance programmer who will manually do the transfer to a new site. He is from Bangladesh, studying in Lithuania. Quite remarkable and secure as I’m doing it through a legitimate company called fiverr. Fingers crossed it all works ok!
