Wednesday 24 July – taking it easy

My antibiotics seem to be slow to kick in, so we had a very gentle day with my painful ear. Rowan went off with Rob and Frances to snorkel the pass, but the current was rushing out and wind blowing, the visibility was not great, so it didn’t last long. In the late afternoon when it had cooled off a bit we had a nice long walk on the beach. On the way back we stopped for a drink at Alia Vita, Frances produced delicious snacks of home made bread with pate, and honey infused macadamia wrapped soft cheese. What a treat! Ten years of sailing means she is an expert at provisioning.

Our beach view from the boat

We found a footpath into the bush, it looks like a bit of a camp site, just feels like you may wake up in the morning buried by the vegetation. Apparently the village has a cave with more human skulls and bones that are unexplained!

Path ended at these huge volcanic boulders

Our walk to the end of the beach, Rowan and I had not taken reef shoes so we had to give up going any further, we will have to explore it another day
