It was grey and cloudy for most of the morning. My ear is very slightly better but still very sore so we had another easy day. I did a bit of boat cleaning, hoping that the movement would open up my ear hole to get it draining!
In the afternoon we went for a lovely long walk at low tide with Rob and Frances, taking our reef shoes this time so we could explore further. The photos will do the walk more justice, it is such dramatic untouched, unspoilt land. We had tea and drinks on Alia Vita afterwards, plus a game of Skipbo which we are finally getting the hang of. We had some boerewors (South African sausage) on the gas bbq for supper, it was really good, we are thrilled with all our SA meat purchases in New Zealand, the biltong is also really delicious.

Incredible arches in the lava

Low tide littered with mushroom rocks

It looks like it has been sliced

We came around the corner to this hidden deep pool, the water was an incredible colour

Our rock pool where we found so much

Clams

Looked this up and it is a Chiton – a kind of mollusc that sucks onto rocks but can also roll up like wood lice

Beautiful crabs

A snake sea cucumber, the venom can blind you if it gets in your eyes, it can’t bite, it has a feathery hydra like head, really weird creature!
