Anand was waiting for me at 7:30am to go to the hospital. He was so apologetic that the doc didn’t turn up yesterday, he assured me it would all be good today and it was. The ENT doc was waiting for me with all his equipment, and very apologetic about not making it yesterday. After an initial inspection, and assessing the lack of response to the first lot of antibiotics, he said he needed to do a swab and then use his micro suction machine to do a thorough clean and examination. He was mortified at the cost of $1000 FJD and said he would do it for $600 FJD (£250), I would have paid any price! My ear is still very infected, he prescribed me anti biotic drops, plus I have to finish the new course of antibiotics. The poor guy lives in Suva a 4 hour drive away and does a Saturday clinic here in Nadi every second Saturday, he stayed overnight especially to see me and was heading straight home after seeing me. He says I will get the result in a week and he wanted to see me again in two weeks. I was with him for an hour, I think he did a very thorough job. Fingers crossed the drops do the trick.
Once back at the boat Rowan was itching to get going, the marina is a bit airless and stifling hot. We headed off to some nearby islands to look for good shelter from this milder Bogi Walu. We finally put our anchor down in Yalobi bay, after 4 hours motoring, there was absolutely no wind. It is a beautiful bay with dramatic rock formations and cliffs right down to the sea, with a gorgeous long beach. Surprisingly there were 4 motor launches and only one other yacht. It was a stunning sunset behind the mountains.
